New environment rules mean a group of Marlborough Sounds residents have had to get permission for the joint burnoff they’ve been doing since the early 1980s. The move has prompted a small group of disapproving residents in Duncan Bay to try to block the green waste fire, due to environmental concerns including smoke in their “pristine” community. And a social media post from one of the property owners backing the burnoff has become a last-minute submission from opponents.
