Comedy legend Paul Mooney has died. News has broke that the veteran American comedian passed away early this morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 79.
Mooney s death was announced by his cousin Rudy Ealy to CNN contributor Roland Martin, revealing that the comedian died at home in Oakland.
His passing was also announced on Mooney s official Twitter with the following tweet:

PAUL Mooney has died at the age of 79 after he suffered a sudden heart attack, a publicist for the comic confirmed to The Sun.
The actor, known as the Godfather of Comedy, was at home in Oakland, California with his family when he passed away.

Paul – whose real name was Paul Gladney – was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday.
His representative, Cassandra Williams, told The Sun: It just happened.” He was with family in his home. It was very sudden
The rep claimed paramedics attempted to revive the comedian after they arrived to the scene, but were unsuccessful.
