Planes of Fame A-26 Invader to Fly Again!

Most readers will know that, for the past half century, the legendary Planes of Fame Air Museum has based the majority of their collection at Chino Airport in San Bernardino County, California. Less well known, perhaps, is their facility in Arizona, which they opened in 1995 at Valle Airport, just south of the Grand Canyon. The museum maintains some three dozen or so airframes here, and one of these, Douglas A-26C Invader 44-35323, is presently under restoration to fly having sat on static display for more than two decades.

Visiting the Former Goodyear Corsair Factory in Akron, Ohio

I have a passion for aviation history, much like most of you reading this article I suspect. When traveling, I do my best to search for any locations nearby my intended destination which might hold a place in aviation lore; luckily, the United States still offers plenty of such sites. During a recent trip to Akron, Ohio, I took the opportunity to visit the former Goodyear Aircraft Corporation (GAC) factory located within the premises of Akron-Fulton Airport. This was the birthplace of America's brief flirtation with dirigibles, built and launched from the gargantuan Airdock, which is still standing and a protected structure.

The Military Aviation Museum - How It All Began

Indeed, the organization has enabled the resurrection of many rare aircraft types in that time, some of them long absent from the skies when first they reflew. As the museum prepares for a bright (and permanent) future, we thought readers might like to learn a little more about how this vibrant organization got started .

FG-1D Corsair Project Available for Sale

As many readers may have noticed, Platinum Fighter Sales recently added a significant airframe to the already notable list of warbirds which they presently have on offer, this being Goodyear-built FG-1D Corsair BuNo.92106. This Oshkosh award-winning aircraft, operated for many years by Vintage Wings of Canada from their base in Gatineau, Quebec, is sadly in need of a major rebuild following a ground loop incident at Gatineau Executive Airport in July, 2019.
