At this hour florida is bracing for a direct hit from the extremely dangerous category 5 hurricane that is irma. The governor of the state, along with his counterparts in georgia and south carolina, are pleading with residents in irmas path to evacuate and seek shelter immediately. The storms 185mileperhour sustained winds make it one of the most powerful ever seen in the atlantic. This is what we now know. Florida will have major hurricane impacts with deadly storm surge and lifethreatening winds. We expect this along the entire east coast. At least 13 deaths are blamed on the hurricane. There is a mass exodus underway as floridians heed the warnings and evacuate. Right now the hurricane is over the turks and Caicos Islands and is approaching the northern coast of cuba and the Outer Islands of the bahamas. The new evacuation orders. And the new difficulties. Good morning, amy. Reporter good morning, natasha. Yes, we just got here. We have just learned the woman who was inside this home is 69 years old. Shes at the hospital right now, in critical condition. She is on life support. Firefighters say she was very disoriented. They heard her banging on the wall inside the home asking for help. So they had to go in and rescue her. Her 71yearold husband got out okay. Firefighters say she might have been struggling to get out of the house because there is so much stuff inside. They do consider this a horder situation. They had trouble getting access to the home, getting in there and getting to her. They think that this fire started in the garage, possibly with the barbecue. The homeowner mentioned he had tried to start it earlier in the day and that he did hear an explosion. The house. Pretty nerveracking time. Firefighters got the call about this fire on silvia drive in Pleasant Hill at 2 15 this morning. The homeowner reported hearing an explosion from the garage. Firefighters are now focusing on the barbecue in there and its propane tank as a possible cause. The homeowner said they had tried to start it earlier in the day.
