Shell be joining us up here later along with roy as well as our distinguished speakers to talk about this Opioid Epidemic which is a relevant issue for us all. Its now claiming the lives of an estimated 90 americans a day. I am not the first person to make that mistake. In massachusetts we had about 2,000 deaths in 2016, more than five deaths per day, more than all the deaths associated with automobile accidents and gunshots combined. There was a 22 increase in opioid related ems transports between 2015 and 2016. In the First Quarter of 2017, the number of opioid prescriptions dispensed in massachusetts declined by 23 compared with the same period in 2015 and by 13 compared with the first three months of 2016.
