Police said they received information leading them to believe that a Texas murder suspect had been hiding out in Rhode Island. They eventually caught him in Massachusetts.
Two area men were arrested Sunday in Rhode Island in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy last week in Spring Lake.
Tommy Jackson, 23, of Sanford, and Jesse Richardson, 26, of Fayetteville, are each charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The men stand accused in the 2:02 a.m. fatal shooting in the Cimarron Mobile Home park on April 12 off N.C. 210, north of Ray Road.
They were arrested in Middletown, Rhode Island, after an officer there spotted the vehicle they were in and ran the license plate about 10:30 a.m., Middletown police officials said in a news release. At that time, the plate came back clear, officials said.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A former priest was arrested Wednesday for multiple counts of sexual abuse against children.
The Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force said, “Cunningham was wanted by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department for multiple counts of Lewd Acts Upon a Child for incidents that allegedly occurred between 1995 through 1997.”
Authorities said Cunningham is a former priest and has been accused of child sexual abuse by at least six people, five of them in civil lawsuits alleging the abuse from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s at three different parishes in California.
Christopher Cunningham was arrested at a home in Newport, and taken to State Police barracks for processing. He was arraigned at Kent County Superior Court.
