President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday described National Identification Number (NIN) registration by Nigerians as key to win the ongoing war against insecurity.
He, therefore, called on Nigerians to fully participate in the ongoing synchronisation of NIN with SIM cards as it will provide a digital framework for improving security and strengthening the economy.
The president, at the launch of the National Policy for the Promotion of Indigenous Content in Nigerian Telecoms Sector and Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Cards registration at the State House, Abuja said proper identification of all Nigerians and legal residents in the country and the ability to conveniently access a database would provide the impetus for more effective planning and security oversight.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday called on Nigerians to fully participate in the ongoing synchronization of National Identification Number, NIN, with SIM cards across the country.
Buhari said such a step will provide a digital framework for improving security and strengthening the economy.
The president spoke while launching the National Policy for the Promotion of Indigenous Content in the Nigerian Telecoms Sector and Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Cards registration in Abuja and was contained in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina.
He said proper identification of all Nigerians and legal residents in the country and the ability to conveniently access a database will provide an impetus for more effective planning and security oversight.

This is even as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) warned that government would not continue postponing the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification. It urged Nigerians to take advantage of the latest extension to finalise the exercise.
