Host is great to see you tonight. We have got a lot to talk about today and not much time to do so so lets get right into it. You have a wonderful new book out called fracture. Congratulations to you. I read it over the weekend and is just a fantastic read, a wonderful read. I think its a mustread for anybody who loves history and politics who cares about Race Relations in america and maybe who just wants to know who the next president is going to be. Tell us what caused you to write it and what motivated you and what did you hope to accomplish . Guest first of all thanks for having me. I appreciate the opportunity and when i first started thinking about this book it was in 2013 and that of course was a big Year Anniversary of the march on washington in 2013, 2014 and 2015. I wanted to write a book about what it means to have the first black president what thats meant to the country and what its meant to racial fallout and i thought maybe i will write about the republican reaction to o
obama is a deal and should be brought back to the public s attention. what do you think? i think using reverand wright to go after barack obama is fair game. but it s another question whether it s smart politics. i think the romney campaign is right to do what it did. i don t think it is smart politics. president obama has a record to run on. he doesn t want to run on that record. and this sort of attack would give him an excuse to talk about something else. but the other problem with this approach going after obama in the fall is that personably very likeable in america. it s his policies the people dislike. the romney campaign is right to focus on those policies. obama-care is polling at 39%. but his approval rating is 48%.
controversial ref van jeremiah wright an election issue. at opening of the democratic convention, this man, reverand jeremiah wright became an issue in the 2008 campaign. then president obama left his church following politically charged comments. then senator barack obama said they were never made while he was there. after the 9/11 attacks he said quote that was america s chickens coming home to roost and saying god d america. and now weighing whether to revive the wright controversy in a major line of attack.
