Firefighters are up in the air and on the ground putting water on the fire. Ambulances are standing by. Lots of interest in the neighborhood here. I talked with one neighbor who did hear an explosion and then saw a lot of flame. You can see from our live that was jean elle reporting live near the scene at this gas explosion. Apparently we have lost her signal. Again, shes about two blocks from this area, right at the lawrence expressway and point siena avenue, white oak lane. As we told you, a woman apparently a woman, crashed her honda civic into the strip mall. That ruptured a gas line and now theres a fire in the strip mall. We understand one person has been sent to the hospital with smoke inhalation. Were keeping a close eye on this as firefighters try to close down this mall with the fire still going on. He was sort of looking out for people to say things that he could take offense to. He and eventually, after many incidents of his anger coming to the fore, we dismissed him. Reporter nbc news has obtained Court Documents showing adam ward, one of the victims, videotaped part of flanagans violent outburst the day he was fired. For investigators here this hits home. Miami opened its eyes to the aftermath. This city is now littered with the hurricanes debris. Boats were even lifted clean out of the bay and dumped on the shore. People here are emerging from their shelters and barricaded homes to try to start clearing up. So, you got up this morning, and what did you find . Sheer devastation. Everywhere you look. The parking lot is still flooded. Cars, you know, trees falling down. In spite of all the preparation for the storm, millions are now without power. This citys financial district has been badly affected. It was underwater during the hurricane, inundated with with massive coastal waves as irma passed. 2a hours ago, there was simply no way i would have been able to stand here in part of miami, notjust because of those high winds but flooding as well.
