Ontario’s Long-Term Care COVID-19 Commission Report was made public on April 30 and can be found on the Ontario Government website. I recommend that every Ontario taxpayer read this report to fully comprehend the drastic situation in our provincial health-care system. This has spin-off” consequences on every aspect every Ontarian and every Sudburian, regardless of age or involvement with health care or LTC.
The Honourable Frank Marrocco, chair of the commission, challenges “Ontario’s policymakers and leaders” to heed the recommendations (of the commission) and resolve to act on the recommendations and not “pass the buck” to the “next cycle or economic downturn”.

I’m a faculty member at the Workplace and Labour Studies program at Laurentian University, and on May 15, along with about 110 others, I’ll be losing my job again. So, it occurred to me that I might be able to reply to the kind of comment that I’ve often seen in the comments section of the local media, and social media, for the past few months.
Here’s the type of comment I’m referring to, that appeared on a Facebook group:
“How can these employees be so naive not to realize that when it’s over it’s over as in any workplace in Canada. Many also thought it was cash for life and to teach a few students was enough as it so turned out.” (Source: Save Our Sudbury Facebook group)
