Some students sued the region saying the a. C. T. And s. A. T. Illegally discriminate against africans that cant afford the prep price and some of which can run into thousands. Scale and scope of the crisis either. Reporter oakland was the last stop on the governors tour. The backdrop for his visit, 15 travel trailers, former fema trailers now owned by the state. The first of 100 to be deployed. I am thrilled to announce today that the city of oakland is accepting 15 trailers from the state of california. Reporter newsome says the trailers will provide temporary shelter for 70 people. Six of them will house homeless youth. The other nine will stay right here near the coliseum to house homeless families. The governors event was held just a few miles from one of oaklands largest encampments near the home depot on high street. There we found leroy silva trying to secure plastic tarps in the rain to protect what little he owns. The 50yearold told us he was born and raised in oakland and has been homeless in his hometown for 13 years. Hes not sure 15 trailers will make much of a difference. They put a lot of rules on everything that they want us to do. Thats why a
