this is just getting ignited in the senate before there s discussion of it. we ll discuss with republican congressman dave krath. he voted yes on the house version of the health care bill that passed. it feels like eons ago. welcome. thank you. your react to the gop bill overnight? it s a surprising turn of events we ran on. people sometimes forget the basics, the repeal part is part of the republican platform, in the better way agenda of the house and i think it just got too big and too bulky. they were trying to move too much. now, it looks like it s back to basics, let s repeal. there won t be a problem in shortage of trying to load up the health care bill like a christmas tree. i don t think anybody at home needs to get worried.
moving forward, what happens next. we can all sit here and dwell on what went wrong. what they should have and could have done. obviously it is what it is. it s already done. what can we do in the future what s it going to look like in the future. repeal and replace. ainsley: will we get brand new bill. in 96 it took three times to get that president clinton finally signed it which we took the medicaid out. perhaps it will come back no time soon. brian: not now. humpty dump at this brian: how do you feel about takes vote out. repeal vote. brian: takes it out and says two years we place it with something? i think that s personally a disaster. ainsley: isn t that what they did? brian: going to vote to see if they get the repeal part out. here s the problem it s not a full repeal. they dual it filibuster proof. they only want to do it with 50 votes. you are spending the spending as speculation of the obamacare. you are leaving all obamacare rules in place because you need 60 v
democratic senators essentially saying the repeal part of the repeal and replace mantra has to be off the table if you re going to be able to bring democrats in there, people like susan collins saying they don t want to go down the path of obamacare, which of course was approved with only democrats. they want to have a more bipartisan bill. we ll see what happens. thanks very much. appreciate it. more on our breaking news. donald trump jr. releasing bombshell e-mails detailing the plan for a secret meeting he had with a russian lawyer last summer with the promise of incriminating evidence of hillary clinton and the promise that this came from the or the idea that this came from the russian government and that the lawyer he was going to meet with, which he has previously said he had no idea who she was, in the e-mails, she is described as a russian government attorney. i m joined by steve hall. steve, based on what you know, i mean, the idea that, i mean, this russian attorney has
do a bipartisan thing. but the republican leadership doesn t believe this is viable. there are some senators who say we should start from scratch and do it in a bipartisan fashion. i can tell you the white house doesn t believe that s realistic. let me jump in there. that s why the white house and some folks at the white house like this idea of doing repeal first and replace later. they believe. and i don t know if this will end up being true. but they believe if they could get the repeal part of this off the table, with purely republican support, it is that repeal word that is radioactive that democrats don t want anything to do with it. they think, they hope, they speculate if they get the repeal part of it done, they might have democrats working with republicans on the replace part. but i think you can make the counterargument that a republican only effort it repeal only poisons the well further and would make it harder for depps s democrats to come back to the table. it seems l
from this weekend. dean heller voted for that repeal effort. and it s a way to say if the replacement part is too difficult to come together let s take care of the first step and repeal. if you repealed it, come back with a replacement effort that could be more bipartisan. that s one of the things that republican at least the trump white house and folks who are allied with them sort of like about this. they can do the repeal part, keep a big part of the promise to the voters. do the repeal in one step and then maybe include these democratic voters as they try to get to the repeal part. but there s a host of political problems with going about it that way. lots of political problems. but interesting there s movement. we ll continue to cover it. thank you so much for being with us. garrett haake at the white house. we re not used to seeing him at the capitol. those protesting the republicans health reform bills are taking to the streets all across the country. health care workers
