The main thrust of AMD s CES 2021 announcements revolved around the release of Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile processors. Codenamed Cezanne and primed for thin-and-light (U-Series) and gaming (H-Series) notebooks, they build on the in-market Ryzen 4000 Series Mobile by upgrading the CPU architecture from Zen 2 to Zen 3 whilst also offering higher peak frequencies. On the integrated graphics front, however, the older Vega architecture is carried over, which is a shame considering the focus AMD has put on the latest RDNA2 blueprint powering premium discrete graphics cards.
In other news, AMD also announced the OEM-only Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 processors equipped with a reduced 65W TDP. 3rd Generation EPYC also got a mention through a demo of a weather forecasting simulation running on dual 32-core Milan chips.

AMD is today unveiling both AMD Ryzen 5000U and Ryzen 5000H CPU lineups. The Ryzen 5000H lineup is primarily based on the Zen 3 core architecture and aimed at the high-performance CPU segment while the Ryzen 5000U features both Zen 3 Cezanne and Zen 2 Lucienne based chips.

An engineering sample of what seems to be an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Cezanne Zen 3 APU has leaked on Chinese site QQ along with some initial CPU-Z numbers. These numbers show the Ryzen 7 5700G ES displaying considerable gains in single and multi-thread scores over the Ryzen 7 3700X and the Ryzen 7 4700G.

Apart from being available for laptops, AMD APUs often make their way to desktop PCs as well. Last year, AMD announced Renoir APUs for desktop, but they were limited only to OEMs. AMD will be launching the new Ryzen 5000 APUs codenamed Cezanne and Lucienne for laptops at CES 2021, but we are now getting to see an early look at the first desktop Ryzen 5000 APU, the Ryzen 7 5700G.

An AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile APU has been spotted inside an Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE laptop churning out some impressive Geekbench results. In fact, the Ryzen 9 5900HX can even outsprint a powerful desktop rival in the form of the Intel Core i7-10700K. The Cezanne Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 processor reached a clock rate of 4.74 GHz.

AMD is preparing two brand new Ryzen 5000 Desktop CPUs for the OEM segment based on the Zen 3 architecture, the Ryzen 9 5900 and the Ryzen 7 5800. Both of these chips will be targeted towards OEMs who will feature them within their brand new pre-build desktops but will not be separately sold.
