The BBC Two reality show Win the Wilderness, which was later was picked up for streaming by Netflix, is the kind of program where everything that happened around its production is almost as compelling as what was filmed.
The concept is pretty easy to grasp, although unique. Duane and Rena Ose own a home that lies about 100 miles away from the nearest town, deep in the Alaskan wilderness. According to Decider, Duane Ose claimed the land that the house sits on in 1985 by hiking out and evoking the Federal Homestead Act of 1862, making him the last American to claim land under the law. However, due to their declining health, the Oses needed to move somewhere closer to fully staffed hospitals and decided to give their house up as a prize in a reality show, which came to be Win the Wilderness. To claim that
