Killeen airport to receive piece of a COVID relief grant

The Skylark Airfield in Killeen is set to receive $13,000 as part of a $100,000 grant, U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, announced. The grant is part of COVID-19 relief funds and the rest of the funds are going to other Central Texas airports. The Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport received COVID relief funding in previous disbursements. “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted individuals, families, and businesses in ways we never expected, and our local airports are no exception,” Carter said. “I am hopeful that these grants will ease the burden and aid in recovery as we work towards the future.” Hilary Shine, the spokeswoman for the city of Killeen, provided a statement on the use of the funds via email Friday.

Commissioners Accept $1 Million COVID-19 Relief Funds Agreement for Airport

SWEETWATER COUNTY During the Sweetwater County Commission meeting this morning, the commissioners unanimously approved a request to accept a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Coronavirus Response Grant Program agreement. Under the agreement, Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport will receive a little over $1 million. At the meeting, Airport Executive Director Devon Brubaker said the agreement is coming from two different programs for a total of $1,013,325.  The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act signed into law on December 27, 2020, includes nearly $2 billion in funds to be awarded as economic relief to eligible airports and concessions, information from the commission packet states.
