really feeling the heat, especially today as we are really marking the possibility that this is likely to become the longest shutdown in this country s history. they are urging the president to basically hit the eject button and take an escape valve. one of the top allies, senator lindsey graham said this week he s pretty much hopeless and doesn t believe there is a path forward on negotiations. he believes the president should use the emergency power to move forward here. but just listen to how these same republicans, including lindsey graham a few years ago when the president in question was president obama was talking about what it would mean if a president were to use these extraordinary powers to do something without congress. this is wrong. it s irresponsible. it will do damage to efforts to fix a broken immigration system. this is a tremendous presidential overreach. i will try to defund the effort for him to go it alone. it will challenge him in court.
