Disaster management authorities are assessing the damage caused by a massive storm that affected several rural communities in the Western Cape last week. The storm brought strong winds and severe flooding to the province and claimed the lives of four people.
Hardest hit were the Overberg towns of Struisbaai and Riviersonderend.

This week s massive storm in the Southern Cape has claimed two more lives.
It brings the number of deaths, as a result of the storm, to four.
The two bodies were people who had been missing since Wednesday. The bodies were found in the Riviersonderend/Stormsvlei area.
The first two deaths were recorded in the Bonnievale area.

The Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheriesâ (Deff) Working on Fire Programme (WOF) dispatched massive resources in one fire this week.
More than 60 firefighters from five teams, three aerial resources and four fire trucks were dispatched to assist the Overberg District Municipality, Deff and CapeNature in fire suppression efforts in Jagersvlakte, Grabouw Forest.
The Helderberg, Walkerbay, Grabouw Forestry Support, Hottentots Holland, and the visiting Hotshot teams from Newlands, conducted an aggressive mop-up operation on Monday and Tuesday (25 and 26 January).
Reinard Geldenhuys, fire chief of the Overberg District Municipality, said the fire was contained by Tuesday afternoon, but the area remained a hotspot for possible flare-ups.
