Fighting Wiener Dogs win 8-1

(KELO.com) –The Sioux Falls Fighting Wiener Dogs hosted their 14th Annual Wiener Dog Races at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Saturday night and defeated the Omaha Lancers 8-1. Six different players scored for the Dogs, while goaltender Trent Burnham stopped 22 of 23 shots on net. The Omaha Lancers opened the scoring with a goal at 8:56 of the first period. The league leading rookie-scorer Ayrton Martino put a puck past goaltender Trent Burnham for his eleventh of the season, with the assists to Ryan Lautenbach and TJ Schweighardt. Wiener Dog forward Arlo Merritt took a holding penalty at 9:49 of the period and, with the Lancers on the power play, Luke Toporowski scored his ninth of the season beating goaltender Jakub Dobes to tie the game.

Stampede earn weekend sweep over Storm

By Carter Woodiel Feb 22, 2021 5:02 AM KEARNEY, Neb. (Stampede) – The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Tri-City Storm 4-2 to earn a two-game sweep at the Viaero Center Sunday evening. Goaltender Noah Grannan was the star of the game after stopping 37 of 39 shots on net. Luke Toporowski, Brent Johnson and Reid Pabich scored in the contest. Gavin Brindley scored the opening goal of the game for the Tri-City Storm at 5:54 of the first period with the assist to Cole O’Hara. The Herd quickly responded with a goal from defenseman Brent Johnson, his tenth of the season, with the assists to Dante Fantauzzi and Reid Pabich.

Stampede throttle Stars 10-4 in Lincoln

Stampede logo. LINCOLN, NE (KELO.com) The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Lincoln Stars 10 to four Friday night at the Ice Box. Seven different players tallied goals for the Herd, while Cole Sillinger tallied his first career USHL hat trick in the contest. Christian Stoever made the start in net, stopping 30 of 34 shots on net. The first game of a three-game, road trip weekend could not have started any worse as the Lincoln Stars opened with two quick goals in the first seven minutes of the period. After James Stefan and Jake Beaune tallied goals for the Stars, Stampede Head Coach Marty Murray called a timeout. Thirty seconds later Cole Sillinger scored his fifth goal in six games for the Herd to get within one. Luke Toporowski provided the assist on the play.

Stampede fall to Waterloo

(KELO.com) The Sioux Falls Stampede were upset 6-4 to the Waterloo Black Hawks after a four-goal third period by the visitors at the PREMIER Center Saturday night. Michael Citara, Jack Smith, Reid Pabich and Mack Motzko all scored for the Herd in the game, while Trent Burnham made the start in net, stopping 29 of 34 shots on net. The Stampede opened the scoring for the second-straight night against the Black Hawks with a goal from forward Michael Citara on the power play. Defenseman Brent Johnson was able to put a puck on net that squirted out to Citara who sent a behind-the-back pass to the slot. The puck deflected off a Waterloo skate and past goaltender Emmett Croteau into the back of the net. Waterloo forward Teddy Lagerback responded a minute later with a goal to tie the game heading into the first intermission.
