from a rooftop with a military-style weapon that he purchased legally. there are a lot of questions remaining about how the suspect slid past safeguards in illinois. red flag laws, despite his threatening violence in the past. in the meantime, six of the seven people killed in the attack have now been identified. that includes a couple whose toddler was found alive and alone after the shooting. let s begin our coverage with cnn s josh campbell outside of the courthouse in illinois with today s top story. reporter: boris, we learned a lot about this investigation over the course of the last 24 hours, specifically, two police encounters in 2019. authorities tell us that they were called in april of 2019 to the alleged shooter s home. the family member indicated that he had allegedly attempted suicide. police ultimately determining that there wasn t a policing issue. the suspect was apparently under the care of a mental health professional, and fast forward to september of the
