Head Of Washoe County Health District Supports Vaccine Requirements For Students

Washoe County’s top public health official said he supports COVID-19 vaccination requirements before students can return to school this fall.
According to KRNV, Washoe County Health Officer Kevin Dick said it’s a way to protect students and staff from the coronavirus.
School officials said they’ll support the health district’s recommendation on the matter.
The Nevada System of Higher Education also recently announced plans to draft a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students returning this fall.

A church in Sun Valley will be hosting a vaccination clinic for people over the age of 16 on Sunday, according to the Washoe County Regional Information Center.
The Regional Information Center has been funding a campaign, Pongamos de Nuestra Parte, to reach diverse communities within the Reno-Sparks area.
The clinic will be offering the Pfizer vaccine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Peters Canisius Church on 225 E. Fifth Ave., officials said in the news release.
The clinic will be held in partnership with the Washoe County Health District and the Nevada Public Health Training Center, with the support of Faith in Action and Immunize Nevada.

Appointments for vaccinations at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center can be scheduled at vax4nv.gov/patient/s/. Vaccinations also will be available for those without appointments.
Appointments and walk-in vaccinations for Washoe County residents 12 and older also are available at local Walmart, CVS and Walgreens locations.
COVID hospitalizations hit new low in Washoe
Washoe County hospitals have hit a new all-time low for coronavirus hospitalizations in the COVID-19 era, with just 14 patients reported on Tuesday, according to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County is reporting 30 more residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday: 1 from Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 7 in El Dorado Hills, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 2 in North County, 7 in Greater Placerville, 3 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 0 in South County, 6 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today s count: 3. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 100.
Of those new cases, 3 are under the age of 18, 21 are age 18-49, 6 are aged 50-64, and 0 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today s count: 0. Total birthdate unknown to date: 11.
There have been another 45 assumed recoveries with 467 assumed active cases.
