We all start life needing care. If we live long enough, many of us end up needing care and at some point in the middle we will likely be responsible for the care of others. Care and caring should be at the centre of how we think about our culture, but it’s frequently treated as an afterthought or an aberration. We are strangely in denial about how much caring work is required to make our society function.

HSE pressed on primary care centre for West Clare town

THE HSE has confirmed a review has been commissioned into the provision of a new Primary Health Care Centre in Kilrush.
Following a public announcement two years ago concerning this development, Councillor Cillian Murphy asked the HSE to provide information on the phase in the current process, a timeline for its completion and opening and an indicative list of proposed services and opening times
Predeceased by his parents David and Bridget and brother Michael.
Sadly missed by his sister Mary Hickie, sister-in-law Mary Walsh, nieces Ann-Marie and Caroline, nephews Declan and John, grandnephew, grandnieces, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

A private funeral Mass will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Carrigaholt on Friday 15th January at 12.00 noon.
Burial afterwards in Moyarta Cemetery, Carrigaholt.
In compliance with HSE Guidelines, the funeral is limited to family only. Please ensure social distancing and public health advice is adhered to.
For those who wish to attend, but cannot, the funeral Mass can be viewed on the Kilballyowen Parish Facebook Page.
Sheila Robertson, an 87 year-old woman from Kilkee, has become the first person in Regina House Community Nursing Unit to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
She got the vaccine today at Regina House alongside healthcare workers from the Unit who were also vaccinated.
Sheila stated that “the atmosphere in Regina House this morning was like people had won the lottery, everyone was so happy to be receiving the vaccine”
Patrick Kelly is a HCA working in Regina House Community Nursing Unit and is the first healthcare worker in Regina House to get the COVID vaccine. He said as he received his vaccine: “I feel very privileged to be the first person in Regina House to receive the vaccine. Like everyone else I have been waiting for the vaccine”
It’s being offered to 22 residents and 49 staff there today.
87-year-old Sheila Robertson was the first resident to get the jab this morning and she says she’s grateful.

The vaccine is scheduled to be administered to residents and staff at Ennistymon Community Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis and Raheen Hospital, Tuamgraney, on the week starting January 18th.
Residents and staff in Clare’s privately-run nursing homes will also be offered the vaccine in the coming weeks.
