hello, welcome to 9 news now at noon. the senate voted down another big part of the health care reform bill. democrats are working quickly to find a compromise that will get them the 60 votes they need in order to pass a plan before heading home for the holidays, but there s a lot of work to be done. whit johnson has the latest. reporter: the health care reform bill will move forward without a plan to allow american pharmacies to import drugs from canada and a handful of other countries. it was an idea pushed by lawmakers in both parties, aimed at cutting costs. the pharmaceutical industry flexes its muscles and defeats an attempt for fair prescription drug prices for the american people so we can keep paying the highest prices in the world. reporter: senators voted down that part of the measure last night. also out of the bill the government-run public option and the plan to let americans start to buy in to medicare coverage at age a 5 55. democrats are working quick
