it s almost like you kind of have to prop them, let the marinate a little bit, then be in the american public, before they actually see it indictment from doj. to that point, who do you see as the most likely candidates to get a criminal referral? there s been some reporting out there, we see mark meadows s name, rudy giuliani, for example, donald trump as well. do you think there s any potential surprise names that could be on that referral list? what we already know from david carter, a federal judge in california, that from his perspective, john eastman, and donald trump, together likely committed crimes. i would add him to the list. of course he pled the fifth many times, as dared the other member of the department of justice that would likely be identified in the indictments who tried to get the, to inject himself into the hierarchy, so that doj could be used as a
public presentation. sources tell cnn that former president trump is among the key people they are considering to suggest for criminal investigation, but they would not reveal any other names. cnn legal analyst norm eisen joins me now. he s a former house judiciary specialist, and norm, good to see you. reading through the tea leaves right there, what are the odds you give that among the names on this referral list include the former president? bianna, extremely high on former president trump, even before these nine impactful hearings full of evidence. a federal judge already found that he had likely committed criminal acts by conspireing to defraud the united states out of the rightful election of joe biden, and by obstructing an official proceeding in congress by his incitement on january 6th. then you had nine hearings
upon months politely negotiating with trump s team even though the doj tried to easy way the subpoena, requiring trump to turn over all the classified documents, even though trump s lawyers represented to doj we ve now given you all the classified documents even after doj executed a search warrant at mar-a-lago turns out there s still at least two more documents trump s team was holding. and to maggie s point doj has a difficult decision to make sure. are we satisfied after all the misrepresentations or take drastic measures and perhaps execute search warrants at other properties? and jamie, amidst all of this there s always the investigations into january 6th. today adam schiff we just heard was just asked by npr if he believes trump committed crimes that could be prosecuted and he said and i m quoting him now yes, i do. so what does that tell you? the committee is not being shy, wolf. donald trump is going to be on that criminal referral list.
