Mar 12, 2021 The Columbiana County Faith-Based Collaborative will sponsor a free training via Zoom on March 19. “It Starts With You: What Can You Do?’ will provide participants with information about treatment options for individuals with mental health or substance use disorders, as well as resources available. Participants will also learn how to effectively communicate and provide help to individuals and families who are affected by these issues. An optional training on suicide prevention will also be provided. The target audience for this training includes pastors, lay leaders, and other church leadership; church members; greeters and volunteers; church administrators and office staff; and representatives from local faith-based service organizations. The training will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. The optional Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Prevention training will begin at 11:45 and last approximately one hour. A trip on the Underground Railroad PLUS libraries will host “The Secret of Quilts and the Underground Railroad” at 6:30 p.m. March 22 via Zoom by Barbara A. Lyons of the University of Mount Union. The program will explain how enslaved men and women made their escape to the Underground Railroad using encoded quilts to guide them. It is based on the book “Hidden in Plain View” by Jacqueline L. Tobin and Raymond Dobard PhD. EL vaccine clinic EAST LIVERPOOL The East Liverpool City Health District will be offering a walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at East Liverpool Community and Learning Center for eligible patients. This includes all persons age 50 and older and the following: persons working in law enforcement, corrections, child care services, schools, funeral homes and health care. Also eligible are renal disease patients and pregnant women. Three hundred (300) doses of the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccination will be administered on a walk-in basis. For patients seeking the two-dose Moderna vaccine, please call 330-385-5123 to schedule an appointment for Tuesday morning.
