Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a tireless, legendary champion of equality who has shaped our society for the better passed away on friday, first eve of rosh hashanah. Adherents of the jewish faith believe that a person who passes away during the high holidays is a person of a great righteousness. Well, truer words could not be spoken of Justice Ginsburg. Standing at just over five feet tall, she was a giant among thij immoral beacon, whos life and legacy have inspired millions of americans to do their part, to bring about a more perfect and just union. I tried to entertain Justice Ginsburg for a few moments before we came over here, telling herr stories of my adventures and misadventures in american politics, back when we viewed each other as threedimensional human beings and not cartoons. I had already interviewed two other people and it immediately leaked to the press. This is about one hour, 10 minutes. [applause] Justice Ginsburg, members of our faculty, our class, it is a privilege to welcome you here today. A few years ago, we began inviting people to offer reflections to our entering class. This has been an extraordinary opportunity for our students, as you embark on your legal education, to listen to and learn from someone whose career has shaped the law. And by attending georgetown law, you have chosen to learn the law you have chosen to learn the law in a place where laws are made.
