The third thing i want to ask of you is to help us think about lessons around recovery. In the wake of new orleans, our City Government started looking at how we prepare our self. And one thing we discovered was, as you all know, the relationships that exist on the ground between civilians and between our First Responders, really will help to dictate our success in tackling not just our response, but our recovery. And this is why last year in my district, in the heart of north beach which i hope many of you will have a chance to visit, we set up a coordinating council, and this is a council made up of local residents, neighborhood associations, merchant groups, churches, nonprofit organizations, city officials, and First Responders. The task of this local coordinating council was to figure out how do we deal with that

Similarly, and i wont be able to stay the whole day today because soon ill be headed over to treasure island, a former navy firefighting school, well have that facility about 14 years and well be welcoming 40 members from the u. S. Marine corps, 20 members from the u. S. Navy, 10 members the u. S. Coast guard, where we will then partner with them and cross train them and use our techniques, reaching technical rescue and high and low rescue being demonstrated in display. We will also be having some of our u. S. Navy personnel on ridealongs with members on our ambulances, fire engines and trucks to continue with our cross training. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to day two of the Senior Leader seminar for San Francisco fleet week 2012. We had a great day yesterday and were going to have an even greater day today. Weve got a number of people that i would like to bring up to welcome you all. While this Senior Leader seminar is going on, theres a number of other activities that are going on at the same time. And a very important activity is some training thats taking place on treasure island. Its training by the San Francisco Fire Department and its become a huge hit with the marines and the sailors that are able to get this training.
