Yesterday when they opened many folks stood in line for hours for that rapid test. The property manager here tells us that they are made aware of issues with that insurance yesterday morning but they thought they had it resolved by last night. That meeting did last until 3 00 this morning. The Council Voted to support a proposal to cut the Police Departments budget in half. And the big headline is that part of that proposal would be to cut Traffic Enforcement from the Police Department so to not have police pull people over for traffic violations, and this is believed to be that it would be the first city in the nation to make this move. Now, this is the first step in creating a City Department of transportation and that would allow for unarmed City Employees to deal with Traffic Enforcement. The vote came hours after a Public Comment session. Here is a sample of what was said. Traffic enforcement does not need to be an armed police concept. I support the proposal to cut 50 from the Police Budget. We as brown folk have been crying for help. You guys are not understanding that the police do not protect us.
