Over the years, the interstate highway system helped move people, goods and services across the country. In some places, it also split communities in half and negatively affected those who live there.
“Why are we any different than any other group of people that have had a wrong, and they want to right the wrong?” Anderson said. “What’s different about us? Why shouldn’t we right the wrongs?”
