The fire started around 1 00 this morning. Again, this group of stores in mount vernon. Those stores include a deli, a laundromat and a pizza place. 40 firefighters now on scene from pelham and yonkers as well. The fire chief tells me each of these businesses have a separate roof. The fire essentially is hiding itself. It keeps jumping in between the separate roofs. They have to tear apart the separate roofs and try to get in there. Thankfully no firefighters have been injured, but that building that collapsed, it collapsed again about an hour into the fire starting, which firefighters tell me is very quick.
