Well, sadly, Ms. Lum died Nov. 23 at the age of 90.
She was a fixture at Armijo for decades. Her tenure was so long that she was there when my friend Nanciann Gregg graduated in 1959 and when I did in 1982.

I had Ms. Lum at Armijo in 10th grade for geometry and while math and I were then and remain to this day mortal enemies, I always liked and respected her. While short in stature, Ms. Lum was a true giant at Armijo and later Solano College. She exuded extreme confidence, colossal competence and commanded prodigious respect. She could be tough and even brusque, but underneath was incredibly compassionate and caring.
