it s the first step in the right direction, but i like what they said, they were realists, they said we re not going to get it done by august, if we get it done by the end of the year. so to me, i actually like the way they laid out the plan today. matt? no, i think that it s this is a very good start. i don t think that tax cuts pay for themselves, but i do think that it will generate some revenue, i think that this could stimulate the economy, put people back to work, which was one of donald trump s plans, the potential problem that they re going to have, though, is, you know, the devil s in the details, as you said, but in order to do this through reconciliation, which they want to do, it has to be revenue neutral. you can try to score it dynamically, and we could make an argument that using the
is and it is sort of win the moment i guess. i mean as you say, he is not ideological guy. unlike a lot of presidents, i don t think he is interesting in the duelling theories of foreign policy, the realists, internationalists and the neocons. i think he is looking for strength and the idea that, you know, he s not going to be pushed around and he is delivering for the countryn some sense. so i don t think that he s going to come out and articulate some grand vision. i really think that the people around him to some degree are coming up with the vision that s pretty mainstream, but then they have to adapt it to whatever trump thinks is happening in the moment because it is clear that this is the guy it is almost like somebody, like the movie mo moment ow momento you can t remember what happened the day before, it is like he has amnesia and there s a fresh start for him. he will have this establishment-oriented team bringing him with a set of options but trump comes to it with a
he represented kushner s companies, one of kushner s companies. what you say? this is more of that magical thinking. if a person is known by us, trusted by us and has done dynamic things in the private sector, well, that s the answer for government. we have too many of those in the trump administration now and we don t have enough people who are hard headed realists and know how to get things done in a very practical and particular and methodical way. thank you. i appreciate having you on. we ll be right back. are you done yet?
china has taken advantage of the american worker in countless ways and i think donald trump is going to make it very clear that that day is over. what does that mean, matt? what leverage does he have against china? oh, lots of leverage against china, in terms of i ll give you one example, currency manipulation, china is a known currency manipulator as are other asian countries and i think he s going to make it very clear that he s not just going to rubber stamp these questions. i think also on the question, i think all types of ways in which our countries deal with each other economically through trade relationships, i think as well, he s going to make it very clear that he wants reciprocity. he wants fairness. okay. and so i think look, it s a critical meeting and i think the chinese are realists, and i think they re going to be listening. ana, how is that going to go? i think it s going to be, it could be, it s got the potential of being a fairly good week for donald trum
trumpcare. i don t see how it helps him at all. he can survive the midterms. he won t be on the ballot. people on it are already nervous. joe manchin is a senator i have a lot of respect for from west virginia, conservative democrat and knows the grass roots quite well and he said, most folks in his state who are on obamacare don t know they re on obamacare. but they will know it when they lose it. and they re always going to remember which party took it away from them and that s something people, realists know across the country. that s why you have such a different reaction in the house than the senate because authorities have to appeal to a broader base of voters than they do in the house and so you ve got a lot more narrow factions. i don t know how you satisfy them. the overarching problem for republicans taking away an entitlement. the whole idea of repealing obamacare is taking away an entitlement. when has that ever happened successfully in america? it s almost political su
