that he was staying put until september, which is what he said last week. so in effect nothing has changed. fareed, when people are in trouble, some of these leaders, they blame it on foreigners, but in this particular case t. the satellite stations, i presume he s refers to al jazeera or al arabiya, but he s making it sounds like it s all their fault. and probably cnn as well. egypt is very nationalist country, a very proud people. it has a 7,000-year history, as president mubarak pointed out, but i don t think it s going to work. i think what you have just witnessed is omare suleiman discrediting himself as any kind of transitional figure. there was a possibility that omall suleiman, the first vice president egypt has had in 30 years could have been the man who ushered in a new egypt.
again suggesting he s staying in power. he s not transferring all power to the vice president. he s saying he s transferring some of the powers, so he clearly sees himself, anderson, as you correctly point out, as the president of egypt. he s not going anywhere. he s staying where he is, and as we anticipated, this crowd, the hundreds of thousands that have gathered, they re exploding in anger right now. we should thought be surprised, especially because they were tasting mubarak going down. they thought for the last five or six hours he was leaving. he is not leaving. he s creating committees, he s transferring some of the powers to his vice president, hi hand-picked vice president omar suleim suleiman, but he did not utter the words that he s leaving. he sees himself as the president of egypt and is staying in power right now simplts wolf, he continues to paint himself as the bulwark of stability. what he has done for 30 years and what he continue toss do now is try to make it a ch
their wishes. but the complication now is it s very complex in getting to that because let s say that this is the military taking over. is that technically a coup? how do they define it? if it s defined as a coup, it means money from the united states. they have to decide whether the aid that the u.s. gives continues. so in this transition, they have to do a number of things. the egyptian government. they would have to change the constitution, number one, to make sure that all of these things that they are doing, you know, creating political parties, how long does the president be, how is he elected. all of that would have to be put into the constitution. so constitutional change is the most important. and then there are legal things, there are laws that have to flow from that. the parliament that was elected was elected in a completely bogus election. so the parliament would have to go. they would have to have parliamentary elections so that their people there who can make
