if he does not do that, this will grow. we can t say whether or not violence will immediately break out. but certainly, the momentum will only build more people, entirely now given all these signals that he is going to step down, people s expectations have been raised. they re tasting in that square, wolf, i know, maybe the pictures after awhile start to look the same to everybody watching around the world, but every day is different in that square. it really is this extraordinary place where people for the first time in their lives, you know, can actually express themselves. we hear people, it s interesting, usually in egypt, no one wants to talk on camera. people are worried about being identified. people say videotape me, i want to say something to the world. it s as if they are exhilarated with the ability to actually speak their minds and to say the words that they haven t been able to say, to come with pictures of mubarak and draw
with the real people who are behind this and not with a broad cross section of people, but they are claiming that these amendments to the constitutional they re going to make are all based on the demand made xwi young people. against they re trying to drive a wedge between these protesters and make a distinction between these protesters and the arrest of the people, the arrest of egypt which wants stability and wants to he s saying to the people in the square, go home, go back to work. this is exactly what he said last week when he said, you know, we re not going to push them out of the square, but we re going to talk to their parents and get the parents to tell them to come home. it s a patronizing tone that only seems to anger more the people in the square, wolf. it certainly does. as you say, the next 12 to 24 hours will be critical, because these folks are angry, deeply frustrated. they thought he was going to announce he was stepping down. he did not announce he was stepping d
