Nettes sweep Lady Bruins, overtake 1st place in region - Pickens

Pickens, County Ga After having the weekend to prepare, the Pickens Dragonettes (17-4, 9-2) welcomed the Northwest Whitfield Lady Bruins (9-9, 9-2) for the second of their two regular season games. On Thursday, February 4th, the Nettes went to Tunnel Hill and defeated the Lady Bruins 50-48. That was their first ever win against Northwest Whitfield in 19 games. The 20th game against these two teams was one of the most important. With the home crowd firmly behind them, the Nettes came away with a 50-30 win.   To start the first quarter, the Lady Bruins got back to back buckets to take a 4-0 lead early. Cassidy Richards, got the Nettes on the board with a pair of free throws to make it 4-2. The two teams were even the rest of the quarter as Northwest Whitfield took a 10-8 lead into the second.

Nettes drop region game to Cedartown - Pickens

Pickens County Ga On February 2nd, the Pickens Dragonettes welcomed the Lady Bulldogs of Cedartown for a big time 7-AAAA match up. It was the Nettes first game in a week after having their game against Southeast Whitfield postponed last Thursday due to Covid issueson Southeast Whitfield’s end. Pickens came in as the second place team in 7-AAAA while Cedartown caqme in as the fourth place team in region play. The Nettes, defeated the Lady Bulldogs 55-50 at Cedartown on January 8th. After a back and forth battle, the Lady Bulldogs came away with a 58-55 win.   In the first quarter, after Cedartown took an early 4-2 lead, the Nettes went on a 10-0 run getting buckets from Reagan Harwood, Marlee McClure, and Kealy Hillhouse to take a 12-4 lead. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 5-3 run to end the first quarter as Pickens took a 15-9 lead going to the second.

Nettes get non-region win at home against Adairsville - Pickens

Jasper, Ga After a tough game on the road against the Heritage Lady Generals the night before, the Pickens Dragonettes were right back at it on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed the Adairsville Lady Tigers to the Dragons Den for a non-region ball game. The Nettes, came into the ball game with the Lady Tigers looking to get back on track before they head back on on the road for a big week next week. After a high scoring first quarter, the Nettes defense settled in and Pickens came away with a 78-39 win.   The scoring started early in this one as the offense for both teams clicked in this mid afternoon game. Lilly Simmons got the scoring started for the Nettes as she nailed a three pointer. Adairsville came back with a 4-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 4-3. Pickens countered with a 4-0 run themselves as Caroline Mullins and Madison Powell made back to back buckets. An 8-0 run from the Lady Tigers gave them a 12-7 advantage. Nettes drop tough road region game to Heritage - Pickens

Ringgold, Ga The Pickens Dragonettes came into their game against the Heritage Lady Generals on Friday, January 15th winners of 10 games in a row and in first place in 7-AAAA at 6-0. The Lady Generals, came in winners of 5 straight, and in 3rd place in 7-AAAA. The last time these two teams met the Nettes defeated Heritage 73-27 on December 8th in Jasper. The second meeting, was much closer. After a tough ball game, the Lady Generals came away with a 52-45 win.   Heritage got on the board first in the opening quarter with a three pointer. The Lady Generals, held a 6 point lead on two occasions, but a free throw by Emma Gleason and a three pointer from Reagan Harwood, cut the lead down to 12-10 going to the second.

Nettes sweep Central-Carroll in physical game - Pickens

Jasper, Ga The Pickens Dragonettes, came into their game against the Lady Lions of Central Carrollton on January 12th in need of some butter because they have been on a roll winning 9 straight ball games. The Nettes defeated Central-Carroll back on December 4th by a score of 72-45 and were looking for the regular season sweep. After a very physical game that saw a technical called, an intentional foul called, Pickens came away with their 10th win in a row, 50-16.   The scoring started a few minutes into the ball game with the Lady Lions getting on the board first with a bucket Izzy Ripatti. From there, the Nettes went on a 13-0 run getting three pointers from Madison Powell & Cassidy Richards. Pickens also got buckets from Carmyn Mullins and Reagan Harwood during the run. Going to the second quarter, the Nettes held a 13-2 lead over the Lady Lions.
