Jasper, Ga — After a tough game on the road against the Heritage Lady Generals the night before, the Pickens Dragonettes were right back at it on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed the Adairsville Lady Tigers to the Dragons Den for a non-region ball game. The Nettes, came into the ball game with the Lady Tigers looking to get back on track before they head back on on the road for a big week next week. After a high scoring first quarter, the Nettes defense settled in and Pickens came away with a 78-39 win.
The scoring started early in this one as the offense for both teams clicked in this mid afternoon game. Lilly Simmons got the scoring started for the Nettes as she nailed a three pointer. Adairsville came back with a 4-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 4-3. Pickens countered with a 4-0 run themselves as Caroline Mullins and Madison Powell made back to back buckets. An 8-0 run from the Lady Tigers gave them a 12-7 advantage. After the two teams traded buckets, the Nettes went on a 7-0 run, led by Carmyn Mullins and Cassidy Richards, to give Pickens the 16-14 lead. A bucket and a free throw gave Adairsville a 17-16 lead late in the first quarter. Just before the end of the quarter, Reagan Harwood hit a three to give the Nettes a 19-17 lead.
