Superintendent spearman is here with me today to make an announcement about the public schools, k12. As you know, by executive order, we closed those schools for a number of weeks, a decision we made after much consultation with a comprehensive group of people including parents, teachers, Health Experts, and otherwise. We decided not to reopen the schools for the rest of the school year. Schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. When i issue that order, which will be next week, it will provide a number of things. One of them is flexibility for the districts and the superintendent, and others involved to allow teachers for special needs classes for children to do some teaching of some kind, and other flexibilities that will allow them to do things they need to o. They also dont present the threat that opening schools backup would do. Also, we would encourage School Districts and schools, principals, teachers, parents, and all involved, to have Graduation Ceremony find

Ive been hearing for members that their physician are asking them for certain annual fees. Ive heard it anywhere from about 200 1,500 per year that the physicians are asking. We are not sure if it is what they call for concierge service. These are from u. H. C. Members, not kaiser. Basically none of the retirees have discussed this issue, mentioned it, brought it forward, or responded to my questions, want to be identified. They are real people. Im not making this up. The question is, are physicians allowed to do that . Make a request

Remember the fire. I was i across the street watching the fire go up. It was a pretty good fire. He was going up the fire escape, the ladder and im watching him. I could literally see it going six inches back and forth, hes got 70 pounds, with tank and everything, loaded down. So i happened to see him later. I asked him, [laughter], i said, did you i said you must have felt he said, yeah, it was just rotten. Being the firefighter, he kept going. He didnt say i cant go up there, its rotten. And he was breaking a hole in the roof and was very important to get that fire out. But i thought thats why were putting it into the code. Commissioner hardeman right. Temperatures in the 80s. Overnight, temperatures wont drop very much at all. Heat advisory in effect until 9 00 p. M. Thursday for virtually all the bay area except the coast. And over in this area to fairfield and beyond, excessive heat warning in effect until thursday evening. The bay area heat wave keeping pg e crews busy around the clock. Some in livermore have been without electricity since yesterday. At one point 190,000 customers were without power. Fewer than 2,000 are still powerless as we speak. Several people found a way to beat the heat at brookley marina today. A couple of guys were learning how to wind surf. That plunge into the bay probably felt pretty good. Also a good day to sit and watch the boaters. A perfect day to spend next to, or actually on the water if you had that chance.
