With poor health infra, Kashmiris see lockdown as only prevention against COVID-19
Kashmir valley has poor healthcare facilities with just 2599 Covid beds, including 324 intensive care unit beds, for a population of more than 8 million people. Out of the total number of available beds, 1220 are already occupied.

Srinagar: The second wave of Covid-19, like other parts of the country, continues to create havoc in Jammu and Kashmir as the the Union Territory recorded its biggest single-day spike of 3,474 fresh COVID-19 cases and 26 coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday.
JAMMU: J&K Police’s special operations group (SOG) on Sunday detained Seeba, wife of Lashkar-e-Mustafa chief Hidayatullah Malik, for questioning a day after the ‘A’ category terrorist was arrested with a pistol and grenade from Jammu city’s outskirts.
“An LLM student at Kashmir University, Seeba was detained from her sister’s residence in Jammu city. She was quizzed about her role in helping Malik,” said a source. Besides detaining her, police on Sunday also arrested another two others from Jammu the landlords who had rented out their houses without getting the police verification of their tenants done.
The arrest of the self-styled commander came after a series of terrorists’ arrests. The first arrest in this chain was of Ayaz Bhat of Anantnag on January 18, from whom a pistol was recovered. On his disclosure, two more terror associates, Rayees Mir of Pampore and Shakir Itoo of Shopian, were arrested with grenades. Later, four more terror associates were arrest

Jammu–Police in Jammu and Kashmir said on Sunday that the arrested chief of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM), an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group, was planning a major terror strike in Jammu city.
“LeM chief, Hidayatullah Malik, belonging to Shopian district in the valley, is a categorised militant wanted in many terror related cases,” the police said.
Malik was arrested on Saturday in Jammu’s Kunjwani area in an operation carried out jointly by the Jammu and Anantnag police.
The police further said that the information about his presence in the area and strike plans came to light following the interrogation of another terrorist, Ayaz Bhat, who was arrested in Anantnag on January 18.

The arrested chief of Lashkar-e-Mustafa was planning a major terror strike in Jammu city. LeM chief, Hidayatullah Malik, belonging to Shopian district in the valley, is a categorised militant wanted in many terror related cases, the police said.
Malik was arrested in Jammu s Kunjwani area in a joint operation by the Jammu and Anantnag police. The information about his presence in the area and strike plans was known after the interrogation of another terrorist, Ayaz Bhat, who was arrested in Anantnag on January 18.

J&K police arrest LeM chief planning major terror strike in Jammu city
Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday arrested one of the most wanted terrorists and self-styled commander of Lashkar-e-Mustafa, thus foiling a major terror strike in the Union Territory. According to the police, the arrested terrorist is believed to be from a frontal organization of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Commenting on the development, a police spokesperson said the arrest of Hidayatullah Malik alias Hasnain, an A category terrorist from the Shopian district, when he was in a private car was made by a joint team of Anantnag and Jammu police from Kunjwani area in the outskirts of Jammu city.Â
