At the live desk, were tracking the developments in south florida following the shooting massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in parkland. 19yearold nikolas cruz was booked into Broward County jail a few hours ago. This was a mugshot released by the Sheriffs Office before the newscast began. Cruz faces 17 counts of premeditated murder. A Law Enforcement official says the gun used by the shooter was an ar15style rifle and was apparently purchased legally by the suspect. At least 17 people were killed in the shooting. Glor and this is our western edition. Good evening. We begin tonight with a dramatic rescue operation near the top of mt. Hood in oregon. A climber fell several hundred feet in treachuous conditions today at the most visited peak in the u. S. Fellow climbers were seen performing c. P. R. Another waved to a rescue chopper. Shortly after, a rescuer was lowered to the surface and the injured climber was airlifted to the hospital, but a number of hikers remain stuck on the mountain with more rough weather expected overnight. Amy frazier of kointv, our cbs portland affiliate, is at mt. Hood. Reporter weve just learned that one of the climbers has died, despite the extensive efforts you just saw, to revive him. Seven climbers remain trapped here on mt. Hood, about 40 rescuers are trying to get to them, and its a race against time. Scaling the hogsback trail, the first climber was close to the 11,000foot summit of oregons toughest and highest peak when he plunged nearly 700 feet down the icy
