Rex Gatchalian on Wednesday shared pictures of the city government meeting with officials of the toll operator where they reached an agreement on solving the traffic woes involving toll gates.
“We’ll be watching you as well as working with you. This was our signing with NLEX this morning. Barriers up!!!” he tweeted.
Based on the agreement, there would be no barriers to the RFID lanes from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Toll fees would also be collected during the specified hours.

In a meeting with Caloocan Mayor Oca Malapitan on Wednesday afternoon, the local government said, NLEX officials expressed their commitment to lessen the queuing time of motorists at toll booths “within a week” starting the conclusion of their talk through various means.
The local government said, these are through the following:
• Installation of additional handheld readers to speed up toll payments and traffic flow
• Relocation of sticker installation and reloading sites
• Improvement of equipment maintenance and replacement program, and
• Establishment of more reloading sites.
The local government added that NLEX officials also vowed to expedite the replacement of defective RFID stickers, increase subscriber updates and notifications on their remaining account balance, and reduce toll congestion caused by insufficient account balances.
