2023: Former Oyo governor, Ladoja, set to join APC

It will be recalled that ZLP, under the leadership of Ladoja, led a coalition of ZLP, PDP, Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and a faction of Alliance for Democracy (AD) that produced the incumbent governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde. Daily Trust reports that the 2019 governorship candidate of ZLP, Sharafadeen Alli, led a team of loyalists of Ladoja to the merger meeting while the acting chairman of the APC, Chief Akin Oke, led the APC team. The team comprised the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Contents, Teslim Folarin, representing Oyo Central senatorial district; two serving members of the House of Representatives, Segun Odebunmi, representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency and Akeem Adeyemi, representing Oyo federal constituency.

Lanlehin, opposition politicians inciting Oyo residents against my government - Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Sunday, raised an alarm that some politicians in the State have concluded plans to incite residents against his government. Makinde said that opposition politicians, among whom are Senator Olufemi Lanlehin are using campaign of calumny to downplay his achievements. The Governor added that Lanlehin and his colleagues in the All Progressives Congress (APC) were inciting the people of the State against his government. DAILY POST reports that Lanlehin is one of the gubernatorial candidates who jettisoned their ambitions to support Makinde in 2019. Lanlehin, who contested on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Chief Bolaji Ayorinde were persuaded by a former Governor of the State, Senator Rasidi Ladoja to support Makinde.
