Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, highlighted numerous grassroots level contributions that Padma Vibhushan Sunderlal Bahuguna has made lifelong to promote environmentalism in the country. Prof. Tiwari added that Shri Sunderlal Bahuguna’s environmental activism emphasized the conservation of biological resources of the country that are diminishing due to destruction of natural habitats, deforestation, environmental degradation, climate change and poaching. As four of the world’s 36 biodiversity hotspots are situated in India, our country harbours a vibrant biological diversity, and it is our collective responsibility to preserve nature by adopting sustainable lifestyle, he added. Bathinda: Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari organized a plantation drive for setting up of “Graha, Nakshatra and Rashi Vatika” at CUPB Ghudda Campus on May 5, 2021.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari inaugurated the programme by planting Graha, Nakshatra and Rashi saplings in the Vatika situated near Guest House at CUPB Campus. Divine Trees associated with nine Grahas, twenty-seven Nakshatras and twelve Rashis were planted at the site. The important divine trees that were planted include Bargad, Peepal, Aanwla, Goolar, Jamun, Sami, Bel, Arjun, Nag Keshar, Kathal, Kadam, Aam, Neem and Mahua, On this occasion, Shri K.P.S.
