A man currently serving 25 years in prison for killing ODU student Christopher Cummings in 2011 pleaded guilty to trying to smuggle drugs into jail last year.
The office says on Oct. 28, 2022, a Norfolk sheriff's deputy intercepted a package addressed to a different inmate who at the time was housed in the same cell section as Dooley.
Shortly before a jury convicted Rashad Dooley on charges related to the 2011 murder of Christopher Cummings, Dooley left the courthouse and did not return.
Rashad Dooley, 29, was found guilty in September of conspiracy to commit murder and burglary, and attempted robbery in connection with Old Dominion University student Christopher Cummings' 2011 death. On Friday, a judge sentenced him to 25 years in jail.
