Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) started a crackdown against private premises including malls and theatres following the Rajkot game zone fire that killed 28 people. SMC sealed multiple game zones, fun fairs, schools, coaching classes, hospitals, and restaurants. Various government officials were present in a joint meeting to discuss preventing fire incidents. The drive focuses on checking places where people gather in large numbers such as schools, hospitals, recreational places, and coaching classes. Premises need to have fire NOC, building use certificate, and police permission to avoid sealing and water supply cut by SMC.
Law enforcement officers were involved in three different vehicle pursuits between Oct. 21. and Oct. 24. A 32-year-old woman was arrested in an Ogema pursuit, a 42-year-old man was arrest in a separate Ogema pursuit, and a 26-year-old woman fled on foot after a pursuit in a vehicle she took without permission. Additionally, on Oct. 24, on Redman Beach Road in Lake Park, a 2000 Mars Motorized Home was stolen. A suspect has been identified and the case remains under investigation.
