New Delhi, Dec 30: The probe by the National Investigation Agency has revealed that a well organised extortion racket was being undertaken by the NSCN (IM) and their target was various companies undertaking road construction projects in Manipur.
The NIA has charged five persons in connection with the case. The case relates to the recovery of Rs 1,58,72,800 along with illegal arms, ammunition, explosives and incriminating documents from the residence of the accused persons.

The NIA said that the developmental funds of the government were illegally diverted in an organised manner and later collected by the NSCN (IM).

NIA sources said that the case was related to the recovery of around Rs 1.59 crore along with illegal arms, ammunition, explosives and incriminating documents from the residential premises of self-styled col. Rayilung Nsarangbe of NSCN (IM) and his wife Ruth Chawang.

Guwahati: National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed charge-Sheet in the case of extortion by NSCN (IM).
NIA filed the charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Nagaland, Dimapur, against five accused persons in the case RC-02/2020/NIA-GUW arising out of FIR No. 0074/2020 dated 05.07.2020 of Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur, Nagaland under section 120B of IPC, section 17,18 & 21 of the UA (P) Act, section 5 (b) of the Explosive Substance Act, section 25 (1A) read with 35 of Arms Act, section 7 & 8 of Nagaland Security Regulation (NSR), Section 12 of Passport Act and Section 6 of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act.
