Aizwal (Mizoram) [India], July 29 (ANI): Requesting Centre to intervene in the border dispute with Assam, Mizoram government Wednesday said miscreants from Assam have removed railway tracks and blocked National Highway (NH) 306 disrupting transportation to the state.
In his message, Home Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo requested the Centre to take necessary action for the immediate removal of the blockade to ensure resumption of the movement of goods and passengers to Mizoram. Unknown miscreants from Assam have destroyed/removed railway tracks at Mohammedpur Railway Station and Ramnathpur Railway Station in Hailakandi district in Assam. The central forces will be headed by a senior officer and will be deployed along National Highway 306. CRPF is likely to be entrusted with the security. Assam and Mizoram have agreed to deploy neutral central forces at their disputed border. The agreement came during a meeting of chief secretaries and DGPs of the states with Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla in New Delhi on Wednesday. After more than 2-hour talks, representatives of both states agreed to continue mutual discussions to resolve the boundary dispute, the home ministry said in a statement.
