NOIDA: About 400 farmers associated with the Kisan Ekta Manch (KEM) were on Monday put under house arrest ahead of UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s proposed visit, which got cancelled at the last minute.
The farmers had gathered at four different places across the district and planned to gherao the CM at the main venue of the event and raise their demands about abadi land and enhanced compensation for their acquired land. However, a team of police led by ACP Brijnandan Rai, along with a company of Provincial Armed Constabulary, reached the outfit’s camp office in Dankaur and placed 100 farmers under house arrest, said additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey. The rest of the farmers were detained in Rabupura, Noida and Greater Noida.
