Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Communicable Disease Center at Hamad Medical Corporation, stated that there is clear evidence that the COVID-19 vaccines offer high levels of protection against the coronavirus and preventing people from getting sick in Qatar.
She explained that the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have proven to be around 95 percent effective at preventing symptomatic infection during extensive clinical trials.
She added that this does not indicate that vaccinated individuals are immune to the virus or cannot contract it. However, vaccinated individuals are more unlikely to develop severe symptoms and become ill in the case of being COVID-19 positive.
