But locals allege bodies were buried in sand There were no bodies, reportedly of suspected COVID-19 victims, floating in the Ganga in Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh, the administration said on Friday. But locals alleged bodies were being improperly buried in the sand on the river’s ghats.
After a spot visit by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Lalganj and the local police, Ram Abhilash, Additional District Magistrate (administration), said the reports of bodies floating in the Ganga at Gegaso ghat were “misleading and false”.

A retired IAS official who has been booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation in a corruption case had allegedly allowed illegal mining of minor mineral across 300 acres in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi through fresh and renewed leases in violation of the rules.
Accused Satyendra Singh was the then District Magistrate of Kaushambi. He has been named in the FIR along with nine alleged beneficiaries. During searches, the agency found documents of 44 immovable properties said to be worth about ₹100 crore.

Lucknow, Feb 3 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted raids on the premises of retired IAS officer Satyendra Singh and nine others in Lucknow and Kaushambi in connection with illegal mining between 2012 and 2014.
The raids were conducted on Tuesday.
The CBI also filed a case of dishonesty, theft and criminal conspiracy against Satyendra Singh, the then district magistrate of Kaushambi and nine others under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
