Regents meeting as the board passed the tuition increase yesterday. The vote was 147. Right now uc tuition is more than 12,000 a year. It could go up by 5 each year reaching 15,000 by the year 2019. Were not just angry. Were sad. There are students crying in the halls. You should be crying. We see this as one step in the budget process. We see 5 as moderate. Uc president says the tuition hike is needed to help with employee pay and to hire more faculty. Meanwhile, ucla protestors upset about the tuition plan were Walking Around in circles in the dark here for hours.
