The new Columbus Fire and Rescue Fire Station No. 4 is a straight shot down Airline Road, but the road to its creation was a long, sometimes bumpy one, marked by detours and abrupt stops.
On Wednesday, the fire department had something to celebrate, hosting a ribbon-cutting at the sparkling new station six years after its initial plans were drawn.

Paul Herbert McLain, age 89 of Ansonia, beloved husband of Norma (Schaible) McLain, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Scranton, PA on September 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Howard and Ella (Hornbaker) McLain.
Paul was a lover of life and people. He was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian s Social Club and Charter Hose Fire Company. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft for 40 years. He was an extremely hard worker and outworked anyone a fraction of his age. Once he retired, he traveled to see more of the U.S. He was an avid bowler, card player, and camper. He enjoyed picking and canning tomatoes and planting his flower and vegetable gardens every summer. He could always be found working in his yard on his pond. He loved spending time with his family in his home state of Pennsylvania. Most importantly, Paul was there whenever someone needed him. His generosity and desire to help was inspiring.
